THE ANNEXSTAD FAMILY FOUNDATION HOPE & INSPIRATION SCHOLARSHIP (1 - Full Ride to Crown College)

The purpose of The Hope & Inspiration Scholarship through The Annextad Family Foundation and Crown College is to honor young people who have overcome significant obstacles or hardships in their lives and help them further their post-secondary education.

We are looking for someone who has overcome significant obstacles in life, has moral character and a desire to excel in life, has significant financial need, has exceptional academic excellence at OHS and has met/is meeting the graduation requirements and will be graduating from OHS in the spring of 2019.

BEATRICE NATZEL AMERICANISM SCHOLARSHIP (1 - $500)

The Hugo Matejcek Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3723 is seeking applicants for the annual Beatrice Natzel Americanism Scholarship. The $500 scholarship is in memory of the late Beatrice Natzel in honor of her many years of service and dedication to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Americanism Program at the local, District, State and National level. You must have participated in the V.F.W. Voice of Democracy or Patriotic Art programs within the last four years to apply. Don Tuerk was a community-minded Owatonna native and Owatonna Fireman.  Don was a long time and very active Eagles Aerie 1791 member.  He passed away on December 20, 2015.  In keeping with Don's values and the Owatonna Eagles mission, The Owatonna Eagles has established this memorial scholarship in his name to assist students seeking furthering their education in a public service field.

FEDERATED CHALLENGE SCHOLARSHIP ($5,000)

Thanks to the generosity of Federated Insurance and the Federated Challenge we are offering a scholarship for up to $5,000 for students to attend a non-four year education or training program at an accredited Minnesota postsecondary school that focuses on obtaining an apprenticeship, certificate or associate’s degree.  Candidates need to have been mentored by Big Brothers Big Sisters for a minimum of 18 months, or was a High School Big for a minimum of 18 months and is planning to enroll part-time or full-time in a non-four year program at a trade, technical or community college or another accredited Minnesota postsecondary school to obtain an apprenticeship, certificate or associate's degree.

Any student who is planning on attending Gustavus in the Fall of 2019 should email Shannon DeWitz in the OHS Main office ( ) to let her know of your intentions.  Once she has your name she will try to pair you with a Gustavus graduate who can then refer your name to Gustavus to receive $1,000 (renewable up to 4 years) above and beyond your calculated financial aid package if you choose to attend Gustavus.

OWATONNA HOSPITAL AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIPS/DONALD SANFORD NURSING (Numerous – varying amounts)

A number of scholarships are available for eligible students. The Donald Sanford Fund scholarship is available to individuals who are planning on or currently enrolled in nursing programs. The Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary scholarship is available to individuals who are planning on or currently attending programs related to healthcare. Recipients of these scholarships will be selected on the basis of need and merit. Those who are currently enrolled in nursing programs and looking to further your nursing education may apply for both scholarships.

TYLER HARLICKER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (1 or more - $1,000)

Tyler Harlicker was diagnosed with B-precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on December 1st, 2009.  Tyler underwent months of treatment while struggling to fight this disease.  Throughout his journey, Tyler continued to teach others what it meant to have courage and perseverance, passion and grace, humor and love.  Tyler had a great zest for life and, even on his darkest days, Tyler thought more about others than he thought of himself.  Tyler had wisdom beyond his years and was determined to leave this world a better place than when he found it.  Unfortunately, he lost his battle and passed away in March of 2011.  Tyler led his life on a few basic principles; showed compassion to others, lived with courage, loved endlessly, gave from the heart and made a difference in the world!  Recipients must be an Owatonna High School Senior attending a 2 or 4 year college.

With the help of the MN Twins, MN Vikings, and Delta Air Lines, we are opening up a program in Minnesota to recognize high school student-athletes (grades 9-12) who have either overcome difficult circumstances, given back to their schools or communities, or just have that infectious positive attitude everyone loves.  This is a free program for boys and girls participating in some kind of high school athletics, and Delta Air Lines is giving away two, $2,500 college scholarships (one male, one female) this year.  The "most positive" male and female in each sport will be recognized at a Twins game in June of 2018, and all nominees will receive a free Twins ticket next year, and some may be featured on our national media partner CNN.

Established in 2008, the Sports & Orthopaedic Specialists Minnesota Athletes in Sports Medicine Scholarship program has awarded annual scholarships to two graduating Minnesota high school student athletes. One of the scholarships is awarded annually to a female student athlete intending to pursue a career in Sports Medicine. This $2,500 scholarship is funded by Women's Orthopaedic Center in partnership with Allina Health. The second scholarship is awarded to a male student athlete and is funded by Sports & Orthopaedic Specialists in partnership with Allina Health. This $2,500 scholarship is awarded annually to a male student athlete intending to pursue a career in Sports Medicine. The purpose of the scholarships is to advance sports medicine and orthopedic care throughout Minnesota.
