Emily Rahrick and Zach Barrett, Owatonna High School seniors, have been nominated for the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Academics, Arts and Athletics Award (Triple A).
Established in 1988, the Triple A Award acknowledges a male and female high school senior with a 3.0 or higher GPA who participates in League-sponsored athletic programs and fine arts activities such as theater, speech and music. The Triple “A” Award recipients are selected through a multi-level process involving member schools of the league (Owatonna High School), the League’s administrative regions (Region 1AA), and a special committee of educators, business leaders, and members from the fine arts and athletic communities (State Level). Both Rahrick and Barrett are participants in a variety of programs at Owatonna High School and involved in our communities.
Rahricks awards and activities at Owatonna include National Honor Society; Band (4 years) Solo/Ensemble contest superior rating (2 years), Choir (2 years), Orchestra (3 years); Girls Varsity Tennis Team (6 years) Tennis Captain (2 years) Tennis All-Conference (4 years) State Tennis participant (1 year); Varsity Track and Field (3 years) Track and Field Captain (1 year)
Barrett’s awards and activities at Owatonna include Band (4 years) Solo/Ensemble contest superior rating (3 years); Choir (4 years) Solo/Ensemble contest superior rating (1 year); Orchestra (2 years); Boys Soccer (4 years) All-Conference (1 year) State Soccer participant (1 year); Basketball (2 years); Track and Field (3 years) Track and Field Captain (1 year) Track and Field All-Conference (1 year)
The MSHSL’s Administrative Regions will review the Triple A nominees from its member schools. Owatonna is in Region 1AA. The top male and female students in the state, as determined by a points system, will be announced by MSHSL officials this spring.
